Blow the winter cobwebs away and join the Jolly Parrot team for this exciting weekend adventure!
Over Easter 2018 we will explore the exciting waters of the Solent and nearby waters as well as the tempestuous English Channel. Weather permitting we will make an overnight dash across the Channel toward the Cherbourg peninsular to a French port where we can sample some French culture and cuisine before making the return trip back to the Solent area.
This 70 Mile trip across the busiest waterway in the world allows us to run a watch system and for everyone to play an important and integral part in the navigation, management and running of the yacht. The trip will certainly incorporate several night hours and will give a true experience of being 'on passage'. Over the entire weekend you can expect to cover a minimum of 160 Nautical miles.
Should the good old British weather prevent a Channel crossing we will either head east towards Brighton or West toward Weymouth. In the worst case we will spend the time practising our navigational skills and emergency drills in the testing waters of the Solent and building on our knowledge base. Whether you are just starting out on your sailing career, a newly qualified RYA Day Skipper or a budding Yachtmaster there is much to be gained from this exciting weekend of training under the guidance of an experienced RYA Yachtmaster instructor.
We will be using comfortable and capable Beneteau Oceanis 37 yachts for this trip equipped with the latest navigational aids and even central heating ! Whichever route we take we will return to the river Hamble by 16:30 On Monday.
