A radio is an important piece of safety equipment on board and it's vital to understand the correct procedures. The Short Range Certificate (SRC) is the minimum qualification required by law to control the operation of VHF and VHF Digital Selective Calling (DSC) equipment on any British flagged vessel voluntarily fitted with a radio either fixed or handheld.
This online course takes approximately 6-8 hours to complete. On sucessful completion of this online course, you will then need to attend a face to face assessment with an RYA VHF Assessor at our training centre in Queensway Quay Marina, Gibraltar.
What experience do I need?
You must be over 16. Knowledge of the phonetic alphabet prior to starting this course would be an advantage.

Course schedule:
This online course gives you the flexibility to work through it at your own pace. This course takes approiximately 6-8 hours to complete. On successful completion of this online course, you will need to attend a face to face assessment at our Training Centre. You should allow 1 hour for your assessment.
Prior to attending your assessment, you will need to pay the £70 licence fee directly to the RYA
